Man of La Mancha

Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan is proud to present a thrilling new production of this American musical classic. Set deep within the vaults of a sixteenth century Spanish prison, author Miguel de Cervantes fights for his life before a court of prisoners while he awaits his actual trial before the Spanish Inquisition. To survive, Cervantes confronts his cell mates with the story of Don Quixote—a dying old man who tries to remake the suffering world into one of chivalrous knights and virtuous ladies; of tireless heroes and mortal enemies. As Quixote’s legendary joust with windmills comes to life within the hopeless world of the prison, Cervantes transforms all of us with his “impossible dream”.

This remarkable musical will challenge our many crews with projects unlike any the school has attempted before—including a set that is 70 feet deep. And in our interpretation of the show, the full cast will perform onstage for the entire show—no one will leave the stage. This rare opportunity will give every cast member, from Quixote to ensemble, the same unique chance to create a fully realized character that will be onstage, uninterrupted, for the full two hours of the show.

Director and designer John Housley once again joins conductor Curt Ebersole, vocal music director James Ruck and nearly the entire staff of last year’s sold out production of Little Shop of Horrors.

The annual Information Meeting for all students interested in joining the cast or crews will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 6pm. Auditions for the show will be held on November 22nd. Tickets will go on sale in December. For more information visit the NVOT Musical Website
